I was excited to have an opportunity to work with Little One Books. Little One Books is an online store that sells amazing books from birth to age five. Aside from books they also have a music and video line.
They are not just after of earning profit but they want their customer to have a rewarding online shopping experience. Each product is being reviewed and selected by their professional and they explained why they select the particular product on "Why We Chose". It is easy to navigate the site because it is broken down into categories by age (from birth to age 5), and by product ( books, music, and video).
As the season of gift giving is coming they also offer Gift Bundles ( which consist of a book, CD and DVD ) and Gift Certificates ( this is the perfect gift , if your undecided which one to choose),
For my review they sent me two books, the 26 Letters and 99 Cents by Tana Hoban and The Handmade Alphabet by Laura Rankin.
The 26 Letters and 99 Cents is actually 2 books in 1. The book is hard bound cover and actually large than I thought. The colors are bright, the page of the book is smooth. The letters are shown in big and small on the right side of the page and the object that start with particular letter is on the left side of the page. It's actually 2 letter/picture page page. Flip the other side of the book to see the numbers. The number is located on the left side of the page and cent is on the right side. Each number is represented by equal amount of cent. My daughter can recognized the object and she knows letter by random not alphabetically. And she just knows from 1 to 10 counting, if it is 11 she will says one one. It is a great book since she will be starting her pre-school next year.
The Handmade Alphabet is a book of American Sign Language (ASL). Each page shows one alphabet letter written and signed, accompanied with corresponding object that start with the specific letter. I love how the hand is drawn it looks so real. The hands belongs to men, women and child. The illustration is not destructing it only focuses on the hand signed and if you're not sure about the picture shown the answer is located at the last page of the book. I know that not all school is offering a subject teaching alphabet sign language. I had learned it when I was in grade school but I ask my husband if he was taught during his school days he said their school never taught signed language. I would like my daughter to be literate both verbal and signed language, so she can communicate and understand to those who wasn't able to speak. And as I see now she is interested in learning she already knew the letter A sign.
There is a special offer from Little One Books. Free Shipping on all purchases through November 15, 2010. A great offer for the Holidays coming.
Disclosure: I received the books for review. I did not receive any monetary compensation for this post. The opinions expressed are my own.
