I couldn’t remember from visit to visit that Mason’s eyes were blue or that he had one tiny dimple on the left side of his clean-shaven face. Did he ever have a five o’clock shadow? His brown hair looked familiar, managing to be both messy and silky at the same time, except I couldn’t recall its normal length. Had he trimmed it recently?
Maybe I didn’t remember the particulars of his appearance. Yet I knew how I felt about being near him. Safe, happy, and serene. He seemed glad to see me. I knew I was glad to see him. These were the details that were too important to forget.
